Developing LinkedIn Confidence: For Leaders, Teams and Associations

“I don’t know. It depends.

“I’ve caught myself saying that more than once over the past few weeks in conversations that all started with a version of “What should I be doing on LinkedIn?”

One person had seen a post that said, “If you’re not doing video, you’re invisible.”

Another had been told the best strategy right now is commenting – 50 times a day. No more, no less.

Someone else was told they needed to post every weekday and once on the weekend (and that one had to be funny) to see results

One was told they needed to “share more personal stories” to build trust. Someone else was trying to follow a detailed LinkedIn calendar they’d downloaded.

All very different people, different goals, different stages. And yet, the answer I gave each of them was the same: “I don’t know. It depends. You can read more here.

When your people show up online, so does your brand.

A few months ago, I partnered with a brilliant team.

They were doing incredible work – delivering outcomes, building relationships, leading projects. But from the outside looking in, you’d never know it.

🔍 Their leaders weren’t visible.

🔍 Profiles were inconsistent or outdated.

🔍 There was no coordinated LinkedIn presence.

It wasn’t that they didn’t want to show up they just didn’t have the support, structure, or confidence to do it consistently.

💡 So what did we do? We didn’t just run a workshop and hope for the best. We built a clear, staged approach that empowered the team to build visibility in a way that was aligned, practical, and achievable. You can read more here.

LinkedIn for Professional Associations

LinkedIn for Professional Associations

One of the biggest missed opportunities I see for member-based organisations and professional associations?

Using LinkedIn like a noticeboard keeping it filled with event reminders, internal news, and media releases.

The real value lies in the intersection of where your members and your organisation show up together. Your members are already out there: speaking at conferences, leading change, mentoring others.

They’re growing their networks and shaping ideas. But often, that’s happening separately from their involvement with your association. That’s the opportunity. You can read more here.

In addition, most professional associations and member-based businesses I speak with are sitting on untapped LinkedIn potential not in their Page content, but in their member community.

It’s your members already have networks, influence, and credibility.

When they show up online, they’re shaping how your profession is seen.

You don’t need every member to post every week, but you do need enough of the right activity to create momentum.

It starts with the members who are already active. The ones speaking at events, running webinars, mentoring, or writing. The ones quietly doing the work and occasionally showing it online. They’re already shaping the narrative.

With the right support, they can also represent your organisation more visibly without losing their own voice. Here are some practical ways to build that momentum.

Digital Confidence

Digital Confidence

Something I’ve been talking about more and more with clients is Digital Confidence not just on a personal level, but at a team and organisational level too.

In today’s digital-first world, your people are your digital front line.

✨ They’re the ones showing up in searches.

✨ They’re the ones connecting with your customers and community.

✨ They’re the ones being looked up before meetings, pitches, and events.

Digital confidence doesn’t mean they have to post every day, share their life story, or become content creators. It’s not about being everywhere or being loud. It’s about knowing how to:

✔️ Represent themselves and the organisation clearly

✔️ Keep their profiles relevant and credible

✔️ Engage meaningfully in conversations that matter

✔️ Align their activity with company values and goals

✔️ Build trust and visibility with the right audiences

When teams are supported in this space, they:

✨Feel more connected to the brand

✨Are more equipped to lead conversations in their industry

✨Show up with more clarity and confidence

This is especially true for professional services firms, associations, and member-based organisations, where reputation, relationships, and referrals are key.

And in a competitive market, digital confidence becomes a real advantage – positioning your people as trusted, credible voices in the spaces that matter most.

If you’re thinking about how your leaders and teams are showing up on LinkedIn, I’d love to help you explore what building digital confidence could look like for your people and how it can become your organisation’s competitive edge.
