Elevating Your Digital-First Impression for 2025

Earlier this year, I shared my 3 most-viewed LinkedIn posts of 2024. It is worth noting, that while views are an interesting metric, the engagement metric showed me a different result to these top 3.

That said, the metrics I focus on more so are profile views from my ideal audience, connection requests, and messenger conversations, although none of that happens without content being seen first.

🖥️ You can read more about how I approach metrics here –https://lnkd.in/g4VDS59m

A big thank-you for reading, liking, and engaging with these posts. Writing is one of my favorite ways to create content so if you have ideas for future topics, let me know – I’d love your input.

Here are the top 3 posts for 2024, based on views:

🎇 LinkedIn Local Recap for June: This post was an interesting first position for me, as it was held the same night as the third State of Origin, with the recap shared the next morning. The post itself combined my personal reflections from the speaker, actionable takeaways, and a community update, and maybe the mention of donuts helped!

🎇What LinkedIn’s Algorithm Change Means for Your Content. This post looked at LinkedIn’s updated algorithm and how it affects content strategies. It included some steps to adapt your content strategy to align with these changes.

🎇What’s New on LinkedIn. This post linked to a newsletter, and similar to the above, highlighted LinkedIn updates and offered actionable advice on applying them to your strategy. Posts ranked in the next 3 included 2 events recaps/community posts. Interesting, these posts ranked higher when looking at the engagement metric.

What are my key takeaways/what I have learnt?

🎇 Make your community the stars of your content. Your content doesn’t always have to focus solely on you or your business. Highlight your community. What I have found when doing this is it’s important to ensure this content remains valuable to those who aren’t directly part of the experience.

🎇 Create valuable, educational, and advice-focused content with practical tips. I have found; consistently generates the most activity (for me) is content is the kind that leaves the reader with something they can do /implement or action.

How to make the LinkedIn Newsfeed work for you.

Over the break, I had an interesting conversation with someone who shared this frustration: “My LinkedIn feed is overrun with irrelevant posts!”

Sound familiar?

As your network grows and the volume of content increases, it’s easy to feel like your feed has become a messy mix of updates, opinions, and posts that just don’t resonate.

But here’s the good news: you have more control over your LinkedIn experience than you might think.

Here are three practical ways to clean up your feed and get back to the content that matters.

Local Link Networking – Brisbane Launch Event

A new chapter for the Brisbane networking community.

Local Link Networking – Brisbane CBD is focused on fostering meaningful connections, sparking the right conversations, and creating a sense of community. The format of Local Link Networking will see networking, speakers, and LinkedIn tips on the last Wednesday of every second month, with opportunities for connection and growth.

Our first event will be held on Wednesday, 26th February 2025, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, at the beautiful Amora Brisbane thanks to Tom, and the team.

Dave has helped thousands of people get through their worst days. He helped save his first life, performing CPR on a stranger on a street in New York City when he was only 13 years old.

He went on to become one of New Zealand’s longest-serving rescue helicopter crewmen, completing nearly 4,000 missions across his 25-year career aboard a rescue helicopter based in Wellington, New Zealand. During the pandemic, Dave served as a response manager on New Zealand’s National COVID-19 Response Team, using his operational and strategic expertise to help coordinate the response to outbreaks.

Today, Dave brings his experience to organisations, helping them prepare for and respond to their worst working days. His talk, Brace for Impact: Preparing for Your Worst Working Day, promises to be packed with actionable insights and practical strategies that leaders and teams can implement immediately.

Should I accept all connection requests?

During a recent training session, someone asked me, “Should I accept all connection requests on LinkedIn?”

There’s no one-size-fits-all strategy. Everyone’s approach is different. Some people choose to connect with everyone, while others prefer to keep their network limited to those they’ve met. Both approaches are completely valid, and it all depends on your strategy.

Before deciding “who” to connect with, it’s important to first consider your “why.” Why are you using LinkedIn? You can read more here.

What does your digital-first impression say about you?

What does your digital-first impression say about you?

Over the past couple of years, I have been working with someone whose life is anything but ordinary. They’re a dedicated business owner who also happens to be an international referee in one of the world’s most passionate sporting leagues.

When we first talked, when you Googled their name, the first results weren’t about their business. Instead, they were… let’s just say, less-than-flattering opinions about their referee calls. While those search results had nothing to do with their business, they were influencing how potential clients viewed them.

People Googling their name weren’t seeing the skilled, professional, and ethical business owner they are. Instead, they were seeing a very different narrative. One that didn’t reflect who they truly are or what their business stands for. Click here to read about just some of what we did in this long-term project to help them reclaim their digital reputation.
