As we edge closer to the end of the year, many organisations are starting to look ahead setting goals, reviewing outcomes, and planning for growth in 2026. But one area that’s often overlooked is visibility.
In a world where first impressions are increasingly digital, every time your team stays invisible online, you’re quietly building what I call digital reputation debt. It’s the gap between how capable you are offline and how credible you appear online and it compounds over time.
The good news is that visibility doesn’t just pay that debt down; it builds equity. Each post, comment, and connection adds to the long-term value of your professional reputation and your organisation’s credibility.
This edition dives into that theme exploring how to align your online presence with your real-world impact, build energy that lasts, and stay visible in meaningful ways along with a summary of upcoming events.
What is your Digital Reputation Debt?
Every day your team stays invisible online, you’re building digital reputation debt. And just like financial debt, it compounds over time.
Here’s what it looks like in practice:
Missed conversations that could have built relationships.
Competitors filling the space and shaping the narrative.
Clients questioning the depth of capability they can’t see.
By the time most organisations realise, they’re not just behind they’re paying interest. It takes more effort, more resources, and more content to catch up.
But here’s the good news: visibility builds equity. When individuals show up consistently sharing, connecting, and contributing – the return is compounding.
She was visible in the room but invisible online
A client said to me recently, “In person, people know who I am and what I bring. But online? You’d never know it.”
And she was right.
In person, it was clear she had decades of credibility. She was the person people turned to when decisions needed to be made, problems needed to be solved, or trust needed to be established. Her peers knew it. Her clients knew it. Her team knew it.
But when someone Googled her, her LinkedIn profile came up—and the message simply didn’t match.
“What is your plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
This quote from Mary Oliver was how Nicky Miklós closed her Healthy Hustle Masterclass with our Local Link Networking Connect members.
As we head toward the end of the year, Nicky’s closing question feels like both a challenge and a reminder.
One of my key takeaways from her session was that it’s not about doing less (because, really, who are we kidding) it’s about doing what matters, with energy that lasts.
Nicky reminded us that energy is one of our most undervalued assets. As someone who calendar-blocks just about everything, it got me thinking about the difference between managing time and managing energy.
In her Masterclass, she encouraged us to identify our energy gainers and drainers, and introduced her Direction Filter – a simple but powerful tool for deciding where to invest our effort.
